Student Affairs Office co-ordinates the rental of some off-campus accommodation (OCA) for students who have a genuine need to live away from home on a user-pay principle. We act as a facilitator between students and some private accommodation operators who have agreed to cater for OUHK students exclusively in their premises.
As the residence is owned by accommodation operators outside OUHK, the availability, accommodation provisions, service level and pricing are subject to negotiation and are likely to vary on a yearly basis. SAO’s role is a facilitator to enable a smooth conclusion of the year-long tenancy commitment between the residents and the accommodation provider. Thus, OCA is very different from traditional student halls owned by other universities. As a facilitator, the university will NOT subsidize the residence collectively or individually. Students will have to take into consideration their residence needs as well as the affordability.
To ensure the health and safety, the operators expect the residents, who are all OUHK students, will observe rules and regulations whereby SAO will help to facilitate the compliance.
