The OUHK Student Loan Scheme (Interest-free) is funded by the Government. Students may choose to repay the loan amount one year after the loan is issued or even after graduation.
Application Period for 2021 Spring Term 1st Round: 16 Nov - 07 Dec 2020 2nd Round: 08 Dec 2020 - 25 Jan 2021
Applicants must intend to register on any courses in part-time programmes, and the courses may lead to the award of Bachelor’s Degrees, Bachelor’s Degrees with Honours and/ or Postgraduate Degrees; and
Applicants must have the right of abode in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ("Hong Kong")(an alphabet “A” should be shown on the front side of the Hong Kong Permanent Identity Card) or have resided or have had their homes in Hong Kong continuously for three complete years prior to the commencement of the programme/course. This does not cover students studying in Hong Kong holding student visas.

Note(1) The 'year' depends on the starting point of the first assistance awarded to individual students. Note(2) The total amount for POG Loan(s) a student is bearing (not yet fully paid) should not exceed HK$100,000 in anytime; otherwise, applicants may be awarded PAOY Loan. Note(3) Repayment will be due in one of the following situations, whichever is the earliest: a. upon accepting an OUHK award, i.e. certificate, diploma, higher diploma, degree; or b. upon achievement of 160 credits; or c. 6 years after the first loan is issued; or d. upon obtaining 3 ‘fail’ (including absent) results or withdrawals from a total of 3 courses supported by bursary/loan; or e. upon suspension of study for more than 2 consecutive terms after the bursary/loan is awarded. Note(4) Applicants need to pay a one-off administrative fee when they confirm acceptance of the loans, the non-refundable administrative fee is 0.5% of the loan amount.
Assessment Criteria
Loan applicants’ monthly income must not exceed HK$60,000.
Eligible applicants are not guaranteed to be offered loan.
Assessment will be made and considered by the OUHK Student Financial Awards Committee. The type of assistance offered to individual successful applicants and the number of successful applicants is determined by the applicants’ financial circumstances, the funds available in the term concerned and others factors that the Committee considers necessary.
Submission of documentary evidence is required upon request (i.e. Latest income proof for at least three consecutive months).
Announcement of Result (Notified by post)
The result of 1st round and 2nd round application will be announced by late December 2020 and early February 2021 respectively.

Applicants must have completed the course registration for 2021 Spring Term (check the courses to be offered in this term). Enquiries of the course registration should be made to the Admissions & Enrolment Office (Part-time & Postgraduate) of the Registry.
Successful applicants in the 1st round application will be offered Pay On Graduation (POG) Loan or Pay After One Year (PAOY) Loan that will be directly credited to the University, and applicants do not need to pay the tuition fees to reserve the course places (but not the specific class section). Applicants in the 2nd round application (PAOY Loan will be offered only) have to pay the tuition fees first, and the loan will be disbursed on reimbursement basis.
