At the start of a new semester, the Library is proud to present you our new Learning Commons located inside the Ho Sik Yee Library (Jockey Club Campus). It is a place where students can come together, collaborate and participate in various innovative and dynamic learning activities.
What's new then?
Group study rooms
Tables and chairs in the two Group Study Rooms inside the Learning Commons have been replaced with a brand new look. What’s more, each of the rooms is now equipped with an interactive whiteboard to facilitate your group discussion and collaborative learning.
Individual and collaborative study
Booth seats? Window seats? Or high tables? Don’t be mistaken! We are not talking about table reservation in a restaurant but different styles of seats we offer in the Learning Commons that serve different needs! Curious to know more? Just come and explore which types of seats best suit your study needs!
Flexible activity zone
Would you like to join a book talk or other events inside the Library? Our new flexible activity zone is a space that can be arranged flexibly for subject talks, workshops or other events. Watch out for our news on the Library website for future activities.
When not in use for specific activities, this area is open for all users for individual or collaborative study.
Internet workstations
There are additional internet workstations to facilitate your study and use of resources available in the E-Library. Alternatively, you can bring along your own laptops or tablets to work here as wireless internet access is available throughout the Learning Commons.
Printing stations
Two printers, one black & white and one colour, are provided next to the drinking fountain. Colour photocopying is also supported by the colour printer.
Tired after long hours of study? How about taking a break at our cozy Refreshment Corner and have some light snacks? Yes, you read it right! Our Refreshment Corner is the ONLY place inside the Library where you can eat and drink. We have vending machines here for your convenience, outside food is not allowed except non-alcoholic drinks.
Be considerate
-
No eating or drinking while using library materials and equipment;
-
Keep the Refreshment Corner clean and pleasant for everyone using this area;
-
Make use of the self-service cleaning station next to the vending machine to clean up spills and crumbs immediately.
For details, please read the Food and Drink Policy
here.
Is the Library still a quiet place for study?
Definitely yes! If you are looking for a place to work and study quietly, please come to Block D of the Ho Sik Yee Library which will remain a Quiet Study Zone for individual study.
