Graduate from the first batch of Testing and Certification programme joins the workforce and applies knowledge into practice

    Vivian Liu Ming-wai
Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Testing and Certification

Vivian Liu Ming-wai chose to study science during secondary school. When the time came to decide on her major in university, she opted for the Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Testing and Certification, which was a brand new programme offered by the OUHK. She did not know much about testing and certification at that time, but she found it very interesting after visiting the University’s laboratories and listening to the sharing from professors about the programme and prospect. Eventually she decided to enroll.

However, she was not doing so well at the beginning and was not very passtionate about her study. Nonetheless she quickly realized that she should take full responsibility for her learning as her parents have been supporting her study both financially and emotionally, and she should not let them down. Since then, she directed herself to study hard, and achieved remarkable improvement within a short time.

In 2017, Vivian is awarded with the “Double Technology Scholarship”. This is the first time that she receives a scholarship in university. She is grateful to the donor and the award is not only a recognition of her hard work but also a motivation for her to improve and excel. It also helps alleviate her financial burden. She is planning to use the money on books and to treat her parents to a big meal as a token of appreciation for their support.

Vivian is also thankful for the patience and guidance of the lecturers and tutors at the OUHK. Whenever she had a question, they would always give her useful advice and guide her to a solution. They were willing to answer questions at odd hours by e-mail and phone, and always encouraged her to strive for better results.

Vivian graduated this year and is now working as a Customer Service Executive at a local testing laboratory. She is glad that she can fully apply the professional knowledge and skills that she has learned from University, and is ready to further develop her potential in the area.
