Six graduates from the 2018 Animation and Visual Effects programme brought home two awards from the "20th DigiCon6 Asia – Hong Kong" with their final year projects.
"Kin's Hair", a short animation produced by CHAN Kwun-chung, CHANG See-wan and WONG Tsz-yin, was presented the "Next Generation Award (Asia Region)" at the Ceremony held on 20 March. It depicts the collective memories and cultural identity of Hong Kong people in the post-handover era through the hair loss story of an ordinary man named Kin. The film has also won the Gold Award in the Animation Category at the 24th ifva Awards and shortlisted for the "Best Animated Short Film" at the 55th Golden Horse Awards.
In addition to "Kin's Hair", "Largo from Winter", a 2D animated short film created by HON Yik-shing, Dicken LEUNG Tik-kan and SO Chi-hong, was awarded the "Certificate of Digital Creativity" on the same occasion. Inspired by the Japanese animation style, "Largo from Winter" tells the story of how two young musicians overcome the challenges to realize their dreams.
