    OU students receive awards in algo trading competition

    The Second Computational Finance Competition co-organized by Global eSolutions (HK) Limited (GES) and IEEE (Hong Kong) Computational Intelligence Chapter (IEEE (HK) CI Chapter)

    Best Overall Return Champion
    Best Risk-Adjusted Return First runner-up

    A finance student Chan Ching-hsiang teamed up with an internet technology student Chan Ka-yan to participate in this year’s Computational Finance Competition. Leveraging on their respective professional knowledges and skills, the two OU students have successfully developed a computer trading programme which uses mathematical models to predict the local stock market movement. It allows users to know the best time to buy and sell stocks and gain maximum profit. Among all the participants, the OU team has earned the largest positive profits and generated second highest risk-adjusted returns on the virtual trading platform with their algo trading software. The students were awarded the Best Overall Return Champion and the Best Risk-Adjusted Return First runner-up at the Award Presentation and Closing Ceremony held on 22 December at the City University of Hong Kong.
