    Testing & Certification students win championships in two engineering competitions

    LAW Siu-ki, SZE Wing-hin

    Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Testing and Certification

    A study of automated machine for 10-writing-instruments writing test

    Competitions and Awards:
    2017/18 Student Project Competition organized by the Manufacturing and Industrial (MI) Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) – Champion Award;
    Young Professionals Exhibition & Competition (YPEC) 2018 organized by the Younger Members Section of the Institution of Engineering and Technology Hong Kong (IET Hong Kong) – Champion of the Undergraduate Section

    Two students from the full-time Testing and Certification programme were crowned champions with their final year project in two engineering competitions, namely the HKIE MI 2017/18 Student Project Competition and YPEC 2018.

    Considering that many of the current testing machines for writing instruments are fairly expensive and inefficient, the duo created a modified version which could test up to 10 writing instruments at a time which is almost 100 times cheaper than similar testing machines on the market. Their practical design and excellent presentation skills impressed the judges of both competitions, and earned them two champion awards out of numerous entries from various local universities.
