Creative Arts Graduation Show: ‘Recollection of My Rough Edges’

    Content1 Content2 Content3

The Class of 2021 Creative Arts Graduation Show was themed ‘Recollection of My Rough Edges’, in which ‘rough edges’ represent the characteristics of young graduates and denote their determination to stay true to themselves as they grow and mature.

The show was unveiled at an opening ceremony and screening on 16 July. Attendees were invited to vote for three Audience Choice awards and five Creative Arts awards in recognition of outstanding exhibits.

Lasting ten days, the exhibition showcased over 100 artworks from the five programmes of Creative Writing and Film Arts; Animation and Visual Effects; Imaging Design and Digital Art; Creative Advertising and Media Design; and Computing and Interactive Entertainment. Among them, the animation ‘Granny’ tells the story of a girl coming to terms with the death of her grandmother, while ‘Oh Bare’ is another meaningful animated work that depicts a less-than-perfect bear with a hole in its body. Interactive entertainment works included ‘VR Driving School’, a VR driving game making use of eye-tracking technology, and the ‘OUHK JCC 4/F AR Campus Tour’ experience. There was also an expanded imaging project titled ‘Reflection’ that reflects on the global pandemic, a rebranding campaign for the pharmaceutical company Ryukakusan titled ‘The Owl in Concrete Jungle’, and a documentary named ‘Linger in the Dark’ that explores the evocative beauty of cinematography.
