First International Conference on Chinese Creative Writing and Cross-Media Practices
The OUHK Department of Creative Arts has been active in the education and research of Chinese Creative Writing, and is in constant dialogue with educational institutions dedicated to the development of Chinese-language literature. On 21 and 22 May, it went a step further by joining the Tin Ka Ping Centre of Chinese Culture in organizing the first International Conference on Chinese Creative Writing and Cross-Media Practices. The conference offered a platform for academia and the literary sector to look into future possibilities of the development of Chinese Creative Writing, including curriculum design and practice, and the prospects of cross-media writing. Held in a hybrid mode, the conference invited Prof. Ge Hongbing from Shanghai University’s College of Liberal Arts and Prof. Chiu Sung-kee of Hong Kong Baptist University’s Academy of Film to deliver keynote speeches, and attracted around 70 local, mainland and overseas scholars to participate in parallel presentations. Selected papers will later be published in the Chinese volume Creative Writing in Hong Kong: Chinese Creative Writing and Cross-Media Practices.
