What is tacit knowledge?
- Guesstimates & hunches
- A multitude of relationships between ill defined variables
- Cannot be represented by simple algorithms
- Related to unique, one-off decision making
- Cannot be separated from “owner”
- Competence cannot be “formally” learned
- Passed on by “apprenticeship” relationships, where the learner learns by operating in close cooperation with more experienced colleagues
