Teaching and Learning Delivery
Text media
The most important part of a distance education course is probably the study guide. This guide is distributed in text, usually in the form of a printed handbook but sometimes electronically by Internet.

Other text materials include books or articles, and many instructors and course teams create packages of off-print readings (for which copyright clearance must be obtained). These materials also may be distributed electronically, though the usual method of distribution is in printed packages, especially in developing countries.

Textual learning materials must be written in a special style, with special formatting techniques, to create a "tutorial in text."
