| The
Management domain provides information about the different
ways in which distance education is organized and administered.
Different procedures may be appropriate in different types
of organization.
The
main organizational types are single mode institutions,
dual mode institutions, mixed mode systems, consortia
and projects. In all these, procedures will be needed
for defining and reviewing institutional mission; for
allocating human and financial resources among competing
student demands and markets; for selecting, appointing,
training and monitoring teachers; for recruiting, registering,
and supervising students; for selecting and controlling
the use of technologies; for controlling materials production
systems; for managing budgets and finances. A planning
system must be set up and maintained.
The
Management domain also deals with issues of quality control
and with cost analysis and cost effectiveness.
