: I couldn't help but jump in here. The comments I read enforce what I said earlier. The concepts or theories that are mentioned can be traced back 30 years or more. One of the problems , I feel, is that our educational systems don;t ground our graduates in some of the links or connections with theories. For example, lifelong learning was popular back in the 7os and constructivism goes back to Piaget at least thirty years. Why do we keep coming up with a new set of old ideas, or trying to say that the technology created these theories. Rather we have applied the same theories before technology. I believe that if you are a poor educator in the traditional modes, technology may magnify that. Perhaps the answers lie in our preparation for the field.I had anticipated that someone would jump! You are right. How often have I myself thought, gosh, we were doing this 20 years ago, and these people are saying it as if it had never happened or been happening! You are correct in saying that nothing is entirely new, but nor is all of it entirely old, I would submit. I think each new wave does add new dimensions to the old concepts. I think research and practice brings in incremental knowledge. Cheers. Maria
