Dear Colleagues,Welcome to the Wrap-up e-conference, which begins today. I am sure it will also be a great success like the previous two occasions.
As you are aware during the f2f conference at the beautiful HongKong, some issues were identified.
One of them was about the digital divide between the developed and developing countries. We tried to analyse how what kind of access the researchers have on the use of technology in the developing and developed countries. A second concern was whether there is a danger of technology driving distance education rather than pedagogy driving the technology.
The third question is how can we use technology effectively to conduct and
disseminate research.
I invite you to share your thoughts and experiences in response to the following questions:
1. What is your experience about technology creating gaps in people's
access to distance education? In particular, what have been the underlying
causes of this lack of access.
2. What are some of the questions that can be asked in research
investigations to explore a) whether technology can and should be made more
accessible to isolated students, and b) how this can be done more effectively.
3. In your experience, is sufficient attention being given to finding the
best ways for the pedagogy to drive the technology rather than vice versa?
Please share some examples of good practices, or some examples of the
questions and problems that concern you.
4. In what ways do you use technology to enhance your research practices,
or to disseminate your research findings?
5. What, if any, insights have you gained from discussions of this issue at
CRIDALA?
6. What are your suggestions for an action plan to address this issue?
I also request you to please involve your colleagues in these deliberations, and provide their valuable inputs.
