Hi,
Let me feel my way about some of these things with you.
I think I am pretty convinced that conceptual knowledge strengthens practice and practice extends theory. Take for instance, the emergent technologies and how they are used for DE. I believe the concepts of life-long learning, learner-to-learner learning, the professor as a support component of the learning system, constructivism rather than instructivism, community of learners, etc., etc. all came about with the advent of the use of Internet -related technologies, or at least the concepts became alot more concretised and real. CMC seems to have offered a very rich bed for theory development ... grounded, bottom-up theory,
Cheers, Maria
