Abstract of the seminar

This seminar will give an overview of the development of a typical IT infrastructure in an UK University and consider some of the issues and future developments in a time when funding is declining. Topics covered will include Academic IT Systems, Management Information Systems, Voice and Data systems and Networks.

Brief biography of speaker

Prof. Alan Broadaway is a director of Information Technology Unit at University College of Northampton. He has had extensive national and international involvement including work for the World Bank related to the introduction of an information technology infrastructure for a new University in Hungary. Dr Jie Shen is engaged in a national project on Teaching and Learning with Network Technology (TALENT). He is involved in providing consultant services to higher education institutions in auditing the C & IT provision and use in learning and teaching, and in providing support services to academics in adopting learning technology in teaching practice at local institution.
