The School of Education and Languages aims to contribute to
- initial teacher education and the professional development of teachers in
Hong Kong;
- language education for teachers;
- early childhood education including special educational needs in
ECE;
- enhancing the language proficiency of students in the OUHK.
The School offers about 40 programmes leading to the award of qualifications
from the sub-degree level to the doctoral level.
The School set up the Centre for Putonghua Education and Testing (CPET) in 2007.
The Centre organizes and administers the National Putonghua Proficiency Test in
collaboration with the State Language and Writing Commission; and it also runs
face-to-face non-credit-bearing short courses which aim at preparing students to
take the National Putonghua Proficiency Test. A non-credit bearing Certificate
in Basic Chinese for Non-Chinese Speakers is also offered.
For new students you can access the online Prospectus for New Students or request
for a print copy.
