The demand for renal
nurses by both public and private sector
is increasing tremendously due to the
growing number of patients requiring
renal nursing service. It leads to an
expansion of the renal service and more
renal centers are being established by
different institutions. In order to
catch up with the community needs,
registered nurses have to be equipped
with renal nursing skills and knowledge.
Offered by LiPACE in collaboration with
Integrated Dialysis Facilities (HK)
Limited (IDF); Hong Kong Baptist
Hospital (HKBH); and Lions Kidney
Educational Centre & Research Foundation
(LKEC), this programme provides students
with specialized training in renal
nursing (such as water treatment for
haemodialysis, different kinds of
dialyzers and Association for the
Advancement of Medical Instrumentation
(AAMI) standards, etc.) Lectures will be
taught by experienced medical
practitioners, nursing specialists and
advanced practice nurses. Students will
practice in the renal units and renal
centers of IDF, HKBH and LKEC, so as to
gain full exposure of recognized

service settings.
