The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) invites nominations and
applications for the position of Head of Public Affairs.
Established by the Government in 1989, the University is a
financially independent and thriving student-oriented institution, providing
tertiary education principally through open access and flexible learning.
It has extended its credit-bearing offerings to include full-time face-to-face
mode since 2001. Other than making available programme offers in Mainland
China, the University is also implementing an e-learning plan on a global basis.
The University currently offers programmes and courses at certificate, diploma,
associate degree, degree and higher degree levels through five academic units,
namely, School of Arts & Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business
& Administration, School of Education & Languages, School of Science
& Technology and the Li Ka Shing Institute of Professional & Continuing
Education.
The University has a total student population of some
18,000 including over 6,000 studying in the full-time face-to-face mode.
It is also developing a new college at a site in Chung Hau Street, Homantin for
full-time intakes, specifically in the areas of creative arts, nursing &
health and testing & certification.
The University is looking for a high-calibre professional
to lead, develop and implement an integrated corporate communication, marketing
and other necessary endeavours to help the University fulfil its mission and
strategic objectives.
The Head of Public Affairs shall be responsible to the
President for the overall management of the Public Affairs Unit. He/she
shall see to the effective functioning of the Public Affairs Unit, including
undertaking strategic analysis and planning, handling public relations,
enhancing the image of the University, mounting effective marketing campaigns
for recruitment of students, fostering alumni relations, soliciting donations,
sponsorship and collaboration partners, publishing newsletters and the
University annual report and running the Information Centre as an efficient hub
for enquiries and information dissemination.
Nominees and applicants should possess a recognized degree,
preferably a higher degree, broad relevant experience at senior level and proven
records of success in relevant fields. The appointee must possess dynamic
leadership and high integrity. He/she should be self-motivated,
resourceful and visionary. A creative mind, sound judgment, excellent
inter-personal and effective management skills, high language proficiency in
English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) as well as interest in and passion
for education are vital to the success of the role.
Remuneration
Package
The University will offer the right candidate an attractive
remuneration package which includes basic salary, monthly composite cash
allowance, annual leave, medical & dental benefits, contract-end gratuity
and life insurance coverage. The successful candidate will be appointed on
a fixed-term contract (renewable subject to mutual consent).
