Credit exemptions
You may be able to
get credit for your previous studies. Credit exemption, known as ‘advanced
standing' at the OUHK, is available for many students who have completed
tertiary-level studies elsewhere.

In addition to the
above general guidelines, please note the following specific situations:

A maximum
advanced standing of 100 credits may be applied towards the dual
awards programmes: Bachelor of Language Studies (English) (Honours)
and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Secondary); and Bachelor of
Language Studies (English) (Honours) and Postgraduate Diploma in
Education (Primary).

A maximum
advanced standing of 20 credits may be applied towards Bachelor of
Education (Honours) in Primary Education, and Bachelor of Education
(Honours) in Secondary Education, Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education and Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education (Special Educational Needs).

exemption. If you possess a qualification eligible for
advanced standing/credit exemption, you are strongly advised to obtain
more detailed information from the OUHK's Advanced Standing
Office. You can come in person to the Information Centre of
the University, or email
requesting the Guide to Application for Advanced Standing and

When will claims for advanced standing/credit exemption be
considered? Your claim will be considered when you are a
registered student. If you have never registered with the University,
you may submit your application under the Extended Scheme.
