From October 2010 semester onwards, the University has switched to a
new course code format, which is more meaningful as the new code carries a
'subject' to indicate the area of academic discipline.
Example of course code change: Current course code:
EC231 New course code: ECON A231 (effective from the beginning of the October

The 1st number signifies the level of the

The 2nd and 3rd numbers are serial numbers
assigned to the course which may be different from the current

In this example, A represents
the School of Arts and Social Sciences, and the first number,
2, indicates that the course is a Middle level course.
Some course codes have a suffix letter — B,C,W,F. The suffix
letter will remain unchanged in the new course code format.
