Dr Chan Kit-yee claims Biennial Award for Chinese Literature
Assistant Professor of the School of Arts and Social Sciences Dr Chan Kit-yee received a Biennial Award in the Literary Criticism Category for her work Hong Kong Fiction and Individual Memories at the 11th Hong Kong Biennial Awards for Chinese Literature.
The Biennial Awards was organized by the Hong Kong Public Libraries of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. At the prize presentation held on 24 November 2011, Dr Chan accepted her award from President Prof. John C Y Leong, who officiated at the ceremony as Chairman of the Public Libraries Advisory Committee.
In her award-winning book, Dr Chan used the techniques of modern literary criticism to examine the masterpieces of three local writers in the context of Hong Kong’s political change and social history. Dr Chan said she was honoured to have received the award, adding that it would serve as encouragement to further explore literary criticism. |
