School of Arts and Social Sciences

Mr Ma Chun-lung, Lecturer, has a BA (Hons) in English and an MPhil in English (Literary Studies) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His areas of interests include counterculture literature, 20th century fiction and film art. He enjoys movies, literature, architecture and contemporary music.

Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration

Dr Toro Chen, Lecturer in Finance, earned his BBA and MSc in Finance from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou in mainland China and PhD in Finance from City University of Hong Kong. This is his first job in Hong Kong after graduation. Dr Chen's research interest focuses on market microstructure and his papers have been published in journals such as Emerging Markets Review, Asia-Pacific Finance Markets and China Economic Review. Dr Chen enjoys hiking in his leisure time.

Dr James Du, Lecturer in Law, obtained his PhD in Law from UCL at the University of London. He was a Professor of Law and the Director of the Centre of Criminal Justice at Southwest University in China. Dr Du is a Fellow of the International Association of Penal Law, as well as a Fellow and Council Member of the China Criminology Association. He is the author of the book Punishment and Reform. Dr Du has a wide range of hobbies, especially in sports and music. He won first prize in the vocal solo contest of the Birmingham Music Festival in 1990.

Dr Rebecca Lau, Lecturer in Management, holds an MPhil from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a PhD from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in the USA. Her research interests include organizational behaviour, human resource management and research methods. She has received best paper awards at two renowned international management conferences, and has published papers in academic journals such as Group & Organization Management and Organizational Research Methods. She is interested in reading, baking and travelling. Her favourite authors are Dan Brown, John Grisham and Mitch Albom.

Mr Bernard Li, Lecturer in Accounting, has an LLB from the University of London and an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in the UK. He is a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Taxation Institution of Hong Kong. He enjoys watching movies, hiking and travelling.

Dr Candy Liu, Lecturer in Chinese Business Law, holds a PhD from the Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. Her research interests cover intellectual property protection and the globalization of intellectual property rights. She enjoys travelling and watching movies.

Ms Maggie Tsong, Lecturer in Accounting, got her MA in International Accounting from the City University of Hong Kong. She is also a Hong Kong Certified Public Accountant and a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Ms Tsong has taught financial accounting for more than ten years in tertiary institutions. She also served as facilitator for the Qualification Programme of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She likes gardening, hiking and camping.

School of Education and Languages

Dr Jimmy Tong, Lecturer in Education, holds a Hong Kong Teacher's Certificate and has been awarded a BEd (Hons) in TESOL, an MA in English Language Education and a PhD by the University of Kent in England. Dr Tong is a member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, UK and has taught in primary and secondary schools and universities. His professional interests include English language education and teacher education. He enjoys travelling and swimming.

School of Science and Technology

Mr Oliver Au, Lecturer in Computing, received his BA and MSc from York University and the University of Toronto in Canada respectively. He first joined the OUHK in 2000 after working for 12 years in Toronto, and left to pursue his study at the Loughborough University where he is a PhD candidate. Before coming home to the OUHK, he taught for a year at the City University of Hong Kong. His research interests include software engineering and formal methods. A book that he thoroughly enjoyed is Erich Fromm's The Essential Fromm: Life Between Having and Being. His favourite song is Casablanca.

Ms Bernadette Ng, Lecturer in Nursing, got her Bachelor's Degree (Nursing) and Master's Degree (Primary Health Care) from the University of Western Sydney in Australia. She has worked in the surgical, pediatrics and burns units in hospitals under the Hospital Authority, and was a clinical instructor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2006 to July this year. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, hiking, singing and playing the piano.
