Programme Leader: Associate Professor Dr Andrew Lui

This four-year programme comprises a suite of core courses that provide students with an all-round understanding of the theories and practices in computing, and it captures the breath, richness and excitement of the computing field, with a three-year early-exit option. Courses in Year 4 provide students with advanced knowledge and training in specialized areas. Graduates are prepared for a broad range of employment opportunities in the computing and IT industry, and will be qualified to work as software engineers, programmers, system analysts, information engineers or computing specialists in the commercial sector, according to Programme Leader Dr Andrew Lui.

Year 4 student Raymond Wong

After finishing his freshman year in Sydney, Raymond came back to Hong Kong because of financial difficulties and enrolled in the OUHK in 2004. 'As our class size is small, not only can tutors pay more attention to individual students, there is also a strong bond between students.' Together with three of his classmates, Raymond established a company last July to set up computer networks and provide Web design and hosting services for clients.

2007 graduate Wong Tat-ming

Tat-ming entered the Institute of Vocational Education after Secondary 7 and obtained a Higher Diploma three years later. He then enrolled in the OUHK, a decision he has never regretted. 'The teaching quality here is high, and the small campus has somehow brought students and teachers closer,' he said. Tat-ming's good grades led to a teacher's recommendation for a summer programmer job at PCCW, during which he gained much exposure to work in the field. He is now a full-time computer programmer in a small computer company.
