Important notes
This course will be taught through a part-time face-to-face mode commencing in October 2013. Face-to-face lectures and tutorials will be scheduled on Saturday afternoon or evening. Please note that the presentation of this course is subject to final approval by the University. Any details of this course may be changed without further notice.

Aims
The overall aim of this course is to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of integrated management systems.

Contents
The course covers the following topics:

  • Principles of integrated management systems

  • Quality, environment and OSH management systems

  • Food safety, information security and IT service management systems

  • Guidelines for integration

  • Implementation of integrated management systems

Learning support
There will be 13 three-hour face-to-face lecture/tutorial classes and a three-hour workshop throughout the course.

Assessment
The assessment of this course will be based entirely on the continuous assessment portion (100%). The continuous assessment portion may include a project, presentation and assignments.

Online requirement
This course is supported by the Online Learning Environment (OLE). You can find the latest course information from the OLE. Through the OLE, you can communicate electronically with your lecturer as well as other students. To access the OLE, you will need to have access to the Internet. The use of the OLE is required for the study of this course.

Equipment
Students will need access to a computer system suitable for connecting to the Internet. The recommended minimum computing requirements are:

  • Pentium IV CPU

  • SVGA display card and monitor

  • 1 GB RAM

  • 500 MB free hard disk space

  • Broadband Internet access

  • Keyboard and mouse
