President named Leader of the Year

President Prof. John C Y Leong received the Leader of the Year award in the Education/Research category for his contribution to Hong Kong at the 18th Leader of the Year awards ceremony organized by Sing Tao News Corporation on 19 March.

Prof. Leong, President of the OUHK since 2003, was also the former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong (HKU). He has served the HKU for 38 years.

Prof. Leong thanked those colleagues who have been working with him for many years. He believes that the award means a lot to the OUHK. Prof. Leong said that the OUHK has joined the Joint University Programmes Admissions System and enjoys a status similar to the eight University Grants Committee-funded institutions. He hopes that winning the award can help raise the profile of the OUHK.
