Since the establishment of the Open University of Hong Kong, distance and open education has gained increasing recognition and experienced growing demand in Hong Kong. We believe that with continued efforts, it will become an important part of mainstream education and manpower training in the future. In our arduous task of making available higher "Education for All", we have been greatly encouraged by the support of the community as well as generous donations from many quarters, which have been a source of strength to us. This vote of confidence will inspire the Open University to renew its endeavours in the quality and delivery of its educational programmes as well as ease of accessibility, to support Hong Kong's aims of becoming a knowledge-based society.
