Master of Social Sciences in International Economics and Development

Admission Requirements

Applicants should have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized tertiary education institution, or equivalent. An undergraduate degree in economics or related areas is not a pre-requisite. Students with a solid quantitative background and interest in economic analysis are encouraged to apply.

Applicants are expected to be proficient in English. Applicants whose bachelor's degree is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is not English should fulfill the following minimum English proficiency requirement:

- A TOEFL score of 525 (paper-based test) or 196 (computer-based test) or 70 (internet-based test); or

- An overall band score of 5.5 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (Academic); or

- A College English Test (CET6) score of PRC, normally not lower than 430; or

- English Language Subject of the Joint College Entrance Examination (JCEE) score of 90; or

- Other equivalent qualifications in English.

If applicants are holding an ‘equivalent qualifications' and with relevant experiences, applicants are welcome to attend an admission interview to clarify and confirm their eligibility and suitability to this programme.
